Why low-performance teams feel overworked

You are likely to find more overworked and stressed people in low-performance organizations than in high-performance organizations.

Sounds counter-intuitive but mostly true.

In high-performance orgs, people get more done with lesser stress because there is often clarity and alignment on:

1. Scope - what needs to get done
2. Timeline - in what timeframe
3. Bandwidth - total amount of effort

This applies even to jobs and problems that are unstructured and ambiguous by nature. You break it down into smaller pieces and tackle one at a time in a structured manner, with reasonable clarity on these three factors.

This clarity - and conversations around it - is sorely missing in low-performance organizations.
