'There are times when you have to transcend logic and embrace faith'
Some invaluable #lifelessons from a super insightful interview of Shri NR Narayana Murthy, by his son Rohan Murty at the #moneycontrol #startup #conclave:
✅Fear, doubt, and uncertainty are a part of everyone's life
✅Luck is extremely important. Acknowledging that luck has played a role in getting you to where you are keeps you humble
✅Some indelible life lessons are imparted through actions, not words.(Look out for the 'common salt' story in the interview).
✅Put the interest of the community ahead of your personal interest in everything you do and you will be a winner in the long term
✅Logic is useful and important. But there are times when you have to transcend logic and embrace faith. When logic does not work faith can do wonders.
✅No team is perfect. The role of a leader is to emphasize the strengths in some situations and de-emphasize the weaknesses in some others.
And finally, responding to the question of why he did not retain more equity in #infosys, senior Murthy says:
“I enjoyed the company of people who are happy. I enjoyed the company of people who felt that I was fair to the extent possible and who thought that [Infosys] was their own company. I enjoyed the company of people who showed more enthusiasm than me in many ways. In order to do that, I cannot say that I will keep the major percentage. That is my personality."

To me, NRN's life philosophy and his accomplishments beautifully demonstrate the power of capitalism when it's fused with the 'Indian way of life'. Compassionate Capitalist - some would say.
I think I have a better moniker for him - Spiritual Capitalist.
Rohan Murty has done a wonderful job of teasing out the best from NRN at a public forum - like only a thoughtful and brilliant son 'less than half his age' can do to his super accomplished father!
Must watch over the weekend.
