"How is this going to get used?"
Learn to ask this question while delivering on a task assigned to you.
Use the answer to make your deliverable/output easy to consume for the next person using it.
This little bit of effort and empathy will hugely differentiate you and your work product from others.
This is a simple skill that we don't learn even in top universities, because the end user of our output is a professor who usually has no further use for it beyond grading.
Work-life is different.
Every deliverable has a tangible use. If you don't understand that use or are indifferent to it, you are probably still operating in 'college mode'.
