The stranger who let someone go first

7 am today at Delhi airport T3. Busy as usual.

I am standing at the fag end of a long security queue.

A harried-looking, well dressed young man cuts past me. I am a bit annoyed but let go. May be he is late for his flight.

As he rushes towards the front, someone in the middle of the queue raises a protest. Many others join the chorus, asking the man to go back to his place at the end of the queue.

Dejected, he turns around and starts to trudge his way back.

Just then, a simple-looking elderly gentleman, standing 3rd in the queue, pats gently on him and offers him his place. The man's face brightens up instantly. There is a gleam of #gratitude in his eyes.

Meanwhile, the elderly gentleman walks calmly towards the back as others look at him in bewilderment.

As he settles behind me, he explains to me with a smile on his face "If 15 minutes of my time makes someone's day, isn't it worth offering?"

I nod respectfully in acknowledgment. And secretly wish that may the tribe of people showing these little acts of #kindness grow.

Who knows, I may be that #harriedguy tomorrow!
