My little girl Aarna wants to become a hair dresser.
She is 5.
In the past, she has wanted to become a nurse, a bank teller, a pilot, a dentist, a fireman, a scientist, and a model.
Being a hair-dresser is her latest muse.
She has been trying to persuade my wife and me to let her try her hands on our hair. We are safe so far but looks like her 3 year old brother, Ojas, will take the bait. He wants to become a mechanic.
The innocence, sincerity, and playfulness of kids is infectious.
As a dad, I don't care what they become when they grow up. At least for now.
As much as I would like to, there is no way for me to predict their #future.
I don't know how their interests will evolve. How social conditioning will shape them. How the world will be when they step out to make their mark.
All I know is that human potential is limitless.
All I hope is for them to grow up into good human beings, comfortable in their own skins and able to appreciate their place on the planet.
All I can provide is nurturing.
There is immense joy in selfless nurturing - without any inkling of the outcome.
#Parenting and #mentoring are examples of such joy. A pleasant surprise that reveals itself over years to come.
Guess what, all our #innovation in #AI and #automation can't replace these!
