The little coincidences that connect

Dots, at times, connect in strange ways.

One of my 2020 goals is to read more fiction. Unlike non-fiction, it expands your brain in subtle and nuanced ways.

My first business trip this year was to #IIMKozhikode, in Kerala. During our random chats there, my colleague Shabrish Menon introduced to me the local mythology surrounding Lord Parshuram - how he is believed to have retrieved that coast of India from the sea with his axe. I was intrigued.

Back home next day, wife excitedly recommended a book she had just finished. My eyes widened as I noticed Guru Parshuram mentioned as a key character on the back cover. Strange coincidence.

But that’s not all. Unknown to my wife, the author – Jatin Gupta - happens to be an ex-colleague and friend. Double coincidence.

And the book?

KALI YUGA: The Ascension - turns out to be a masterpiece. My first fantasy fiction. And I am floored, to say the least. The plot, the characters, the drama, the mystery – it all starts unfolding slowly, and before you know you are completely gripped and transported to a different world. It feels so real yet so magical and mystical.

Jatin - hats off! You are a genius, I told you.

Dear life – I love your little quirks, randomness and sweet serendipities. Stay that way!
