For my run this morning, I drove to a nearby lakefront park. On the way back, filled up the tank of my car.
The bill came to an amount that was nearly twice my monthly living expenses during my Delhi University days.
This seems insane.
But this post is not to highlight the rising fuel prices. Prices do rise and people do age.
Price inflation hurts all of us and we love to crib about it.
What we generally don't talk about is lifestyle inflation. As our income grows it's natural to upgrade our lifestyle. Nothing wrong with that. Trouble arises when the rate of lifestyle inflation exceeds the rate of income growth.
We can't control price inflation but lifestyle inflation is completely our choosing.
Being able to manage lifestyle inflation rate below our income growth rate generates enormous financial flexibility over time. The peace of mind you get is an added bonus, and it's priceless.
Here is the real life hack though: There is no price or lifestyle inflation on most simple pleasures of life, like a morning walk/run. Enjoy the pics!
