Growing up in the 80s and 90s India, we lived a life which would be hailed as 'climate-conscious' today. e.g.,
- Shopping with multi-use cloth bags vs. single use plastic bags
- Riding bicycles vs. driving cars
- Reusing bottles/containers vs throwing them away
- Extending the life of clothes vs discarding every few weeks/months
I can go on.
The driving factor here was affordability. We lived a 'climate-conscious' lifestyle because we could not afford any better.
Today, many of us are reverting to that lifestyle but not because of affordability.
It's a choice we are making.
Because now it's a necessity.
What other 'climate-conscious' lifestyle choices you see coming back from the past?
