How much money do you need?
Was talking to an ultra high networth individual the other day.
This person started with modest means, made good money through hard work and luck, and led a well-deserved lavish lifestyle.
Lately, he has been discreetly giving away a lot of his wealth and is back to a relatively modest lifestyle.
I asked why?
He explained:
[1] I have realised that my possessions do not impress anyone as much as they impress me.
[2] My ability to consume is limited. The size of my tummy, the size of my bed, and the size of my clothes are roughly the same as anyone else's. I can live in only one house at a time and drive only one car at a time.
[3] My time on this planet is limited. I need only so much for myself.
[4] I don't want to leave too much for my children. If they are deserving, they would never need my money. If they are undeserving, they would fritter away what I leave to them.
