Worried about Gen AI eating your job?
Worry not.
Gen AI captured the imagination of the masses less than a year back when OpenAI's chatGPT went public.
Already, in some circles, we hear hushed tone conversations about whether this technology is going to live up to its promise of disrupting industries and changing the world as we know it.
I find this rather funny, fascinating and worrisome.
In recent times the hype, the expectations, the fear, the hope, and the greed associated with all things new and shiny - Gen AI Included - have occilated so wildly and so quickly.
We expect, or are made to believe, that a new technology will change...err disrupt... our lives, jobs, industries, and the world, overnight. We expect the technology to do wonders and get disappointed too soon.
History tells us that nothing changes overnight.

No doubt, Gen AI is a great technology with immense potential.
But like any technology, before it becomes ' 'disruptive' it has to become 'assistive'. It certainly won't change the world overnight.
Next time before you worry about how GenAI will disrupt your job, ask yourself: how can it assist me in my job.
And then you will probably never have to worry about your job being disrupted.
