Our #technology driven modern life is full of interesting ironies.
Each one of us thinks that we are unique and special. Yet, scratch the surface and you would find that we are all alike like never before in the history of mankind.
Examples:
We value our #privacy so much that we hesitate to meet strangers and are extremely guarded in our conversations even with acquaintances. Yet the amount of information that we knowingly or unknowingly leak about ourselves through digital clicks is mind boggling.
We value our individuality so much that we want everything personalized to perfection, to our liking. So much so that we don't even realise when our 'liking' starts getting manipulated by #algorithms.
We value having #choices so much that lack of options seems like we are lacking #liberty. No wonder, we are inundated with so many choices (food, shopping, dating, entertainment, and so on) that we take more time to decide than to actually enjoy what we finally choose.
We are all so busy chasing the urgent that we hardly have time and patience to pursue the important.
We are all so occupied disrupting and hacking that we conveniently overlook simple solutions sitting in plain sight.
We are all so passionately pursuing the best that we have lost the ability to enjoy the good that we already have within our reach.
We have glorified 'failing fast' so much that good old 'succeeding slow' seems like a philosophy for the losers.
The more we have, the more we want. And the more we get, the less pleasure we derive from what we already have. Yet, we all like to think of ourselves as #sustainability champions and fancy living a minimalist lifestyle.

I may sound like an old, grumpy, conservative conspiracy theorist.
I promise I am not that.
But don't trust me.
The reality of our lives contradicts the narratives that we weave around it.
Another irony!
