What does a good life entail?
'Make a living' or 'make a life'?
Do we 'find meaning' or 'create meaning'?
There are no right answers to these questions.
Yet the quest for answers is an extremely worthwhile endeavour.
Just finished reading 'Another sort of freedom' by Gurcharan Das.
In this extremely well written memoir, Das explores these questions while providing us a ring side view of his life, painted as a perpetual struggle between his outward success and inner struggles.
You get glimpses of an otherwise happy childhood sprinkled with the pain of the partition, growing up as a teenager in the Americas of the 50's, a reluctant and rather misfit corporate entrant rising to become the CEO, side hustle and 2nd career innings as a writer, and the struggles of being a liberal in India.
Intricately intimate, extremely engaging, super relatable.
Highly recommended!
