Asking for another chance

While at #IIT Delhi, he was rejected by #ITC - dream job on the campus back in the days. He walked to the recruiting manager and asked for another chance.

He got it. And bagged the coveted job.

He was rejected by #McKinsey & Co. at #Harvard because of inadequate work experience. He got one of his professors to write a recommendation for him to a senior partner at McKinsey.

They re-considered his candidature and made him an offer. He went on to become the first foreign-born Managing Director (#CEO) for the firm.

Key take-away: #Rejections are never final. It never hurts to ask for another chance or for help.

Finished reading the captivating #memoir of Rajat Gupta - Mind Without Fear - this past weekend. His conviction in the #Galleon scandal was a huge emotional blow to someone like me who grew up admiring him and his legacy in my first job at McKinsey.

This memoir helps put things in perspective. Perhaps Rajat's another attempt to redeem his hard earned #reputation that he lost in a dramatic legal battle.

Whether you believe his version of the story or not is upto you. But this book is a great read filled with many anecdotes and moments where you can't but stop and #reflect. I will be sharing some more of these over the coming days. Stay tuned!
