When I transitioned from consulting to corporate, it took me a good 12-18 months to be able to lead a meeting without a perfectly crafted power point deck.
I vividly recall the first time I conducted a workshop for senior leaders, without a deck to project. Going in, it felt as if I was walking naked in a room full of people.
But the outcome of that workshop - in terms of engagement, ideas, and agreements - exceeded my wildest imagination.

They say: Learning = Growth.
But if you are among the top 10% in your game, your formula is:
Unlearning = Growth.
It may sound paradoxical but the more you have accomplished, the more you are likely to be shackled by what has worked well for you in the past. You may continue deploying the same methods and perhaps continue producing results.
But those results would not satisfy you because in your heart you know that you are not growing.
Unfortunately, there are no courses or text books for people who are already on top of their game.
The only way for you to grow is by forcing yourself to unlearn some of what has worked well for you in the past.
This 'forced unlearning' creates space for experimentation and exploration, and enables you to tweak your craft in unimaginable ways.
Once you do some deliberate practice, you would be surprised by how invigorating it is and the immense possibilities it opens up.
It is not easy for sure but no growth ever comes easy.
Do you have any 'walking naked in a room full of people' moment?
