Thinking & Judgment

A good outcome can hide a bad approach

We celebrate outcomes. Rarely care as much about the approach.

Outcomes are often tangible. Ex-post. Approach is intangible. Ex-ante.

Outcomes can often be misleading, at least in the short term. You can have a wrong approach and still a good outcome. We call it luck. It can blind us.

Approach is tricky. It's not as black and white as an outcome. In fact, classifying it as right vs wrong is not the correct thing to do. It’s always a shade of grey, sitting somewhere on the right-wrong spectrum.

Beauty is: no matter what you are dealing with, you always have the opportunity to work on your approach and make it better. There is no limit. It's an internal journey of joy, unhindered by the sheen of external success.

Learn to enjoy this journey. You will never look back.
