He needed a job change.
Was a strong candidate. I had worked with him and could personally vouch for him.
Shared his profile with an acquaintance (B) who I knew was looking for someone like him.
An interview was arranged within a few days.
Soon after the interview, B called me to say he loved the candidate. Through the conversation I could sense that he had rightly spotted some of the strengths, skills and personality traits that I knew to be true about the candidate.
BUT, said B, he was not sure if he would hire him.
Puzzled, I asked, why?
He seems to be too good to stay happy and be successful in the role I have, said B. He then explained his reasoning. I could see his point of view and could not agree more.
I felt bad for the situation - the candidate not getting the job he wanted.
But felt good about the decision. It was the right thing to do for all stakeholders including the candidate.

Think about it.
That thing that you desperately wanted but did not get.
May be you are too good to get it. The universe has better things in store for you.
Every rejection is not a failure.
