Thinking & Judgment

When your opinion becomes predictable

Predictability.

In general, most of us like it.

I like predictability in character and commitment. I pursue it personally and seek it in others.

But predictability of opinion is a dangerous thing.

If your point of view on one topic can be predicted from your point of view on another, that’s a signal that you may be holding on to an ideology.

The line between ideology and fool-hardiness is very thin.

Ideology is the enemy of critical thinking.

Sure shot sign of high quality thinking: your opinion on a particular issue, howsoever familiar the topic, will never be predictable.
