It happens to many of us.
When we speak, we speak hesitatingly, as if we may be punished for changing the other person's mind.
When we listen, we listen defensively as if we are guarding our mind from being changed.
Better way to do it:
Speak confidently as if you are right. Listen carefully as if you are wrong.
Communication is all about seeding and soaking new ideas. Being able to change minds - theirs and yours - is an integral part of it.
