Over 80% of who we are is in reality not us.
It is our genes, where we were born, schooling, parenting, and other influences that we had no control over.
With that context, I have two submissions to make:
One, the 20% of 'us' that we have control over - our effort, attitude, decisions, how we react to situations, etc. - is powerful enough to significantly shift our life's trajectory.
Two, life is much better when we don't take our success and failures too personally. After all, how can we not acknowledge the role of the 80%?
My mantra: own and act fully on the 20%. Leave the credit - and the blame - to the 80%.
