Campus to Corporate - the game changes completely.
In college, you pay to learn whereas in corporate you get paid to learn. This has huge implications.
In college, since you pay for learning, they do the heavy-lifting for you:
1. Syllabus: they curate a fixed syllabus for you
2. Learning: they have full-time teachers who come and teach you
3. Assessment: they test you a few times a year and give you a scorecard
4. Application: you learn first, then do something (hopefully)
In corporate, they pay you for learning. Hence, the order and roles reverse:
1. Application: You must do first, and thus learn
2. Assessment: You must seek feedback continuously. No fixed exams here.
3. Learning: You must find mentors to guide you. No full-time teachers here.
4. Syllabus: You must define it and iterate it. They call it the scope of work.
Wishing the very best to all who are making the transition this year from campus to corporate.
